Motbung boys keep Manipur flag flying high

Motbung Youth Club (MYC) U-12 defeated DSA Akola U-14 by 4-1 goals via a penalty shootout in the semi-final of Kolkata Cup 2013 to set up for final clash against Pune FC.
The match played at the Tarun Dall Club ground in Kolkata on Friday match ended 1-1 in the regulation time, thus, requiring penalty shoot out to decide the fate of the match.
Against the run of play, DSA Akola took the lead in the 14th minute of the game before Jangougin equalised the proceedings in the 20th minute for the Manipur side.

DSA Akola started the match with a bang, pushing the Manipur team on the back foot.
But the MYC boys, who were playing out of Manipur soil for the first time, slowly gained composure and matched the Maharashtra side on equal footings.
Soon, the Motbung team took over the proceedings as the boys' confidence grew and the attacked began.
Jangougin, who was also awarded the Man of the Match, was the livewire of the team and initiated many attacks from the left, which the strikers somehow failed to convert.
DSA Akola goalkeeper, however, had to be attributed for keeping the match alive till the final whistle.
In the shootout, all the four MYC players converted their shots successfully while only 1 DSA Akola player managed to beat the Motbung goalkeeper, Paogoulen.
Motbung YC will now face India's most professional club, Pune FC, in the final to be played on 29th December evening under floodlights.
Motbung Youth Club comprises of boys who have been training at the FeverPitch academy in Motbung since July this year.FeverPitch.in is the official Media Partner of the Kolkata Cup 2013, organised by Tarun Dall Club.
On the other hand, there was a setback for another Manipur team, Birachandra Academy, who went down 0-3 against Indian Cultural League (Mumbai), a team that comprises Maharashtra Santosh Trophy players.
