Imphal, August 28 2022: Imphal West clinched the women's football title in the 2nd Olympic Games beating Imphal East 2-1 in the final staged at SAI Turf Ground, Takyel today.

Imphal East dominated the earlier proceedings and went 1-0 up after 6 minutes when Rina Roy made an effort count but conceded the lead with Ch Binomala hitting the equaliser in the 24th minute.

Binomala then scored her second in the 45th minute to seal the victory.

Elsewhere at Artificial Turf Ground, Imphal East and Churachandpur posted semi-final final victories to complete the final line up.

Imphal East cruised into the final with a 5-0 thrashing of Kakching in the first semi-final thanks to Can Meitei's brace (22', 36').Thangabar scored three minutes into the added time of the first half to make it 3-0 for Imphal East before Md Sohail (51') and Thangabar (57') slotted home a goal each to complete the rout.

Earlier in the day, Kakching romped past Thoubal 4-0 to secure the semi-final ticket.

Meanwhile in the second semi-final match, Churachandpur beat Imphal West 3-2 on penalties after a goalless draw during the regulation time.

Earlier in the day, Imphal West made it to the semi-final with a 5-3 penalty win over Senapati after 1-1 normal time draw.
