6th NE Thang-Ta Festival concludes

Imphal, September 24 2023: The 15-day-long 6th North East Thang-Ta Festival organised by Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur at Thang-Ta Shanglen, Yumnam Huidrom, drew to a close on Sunday.

The closing event was attended by Kh Dhabalo Khaba, State Kala Akademi awarded and president Eastern Kala Vidya Thang-Ta Association, Nongmeibung; Huidrom Premkumar Singh, president Huyel Langion Thang-Ta Association, Manipur; and Th Priyokumar Singh, former secretary Thang-Ta Federation of India, as chief guest, president and guest of honour, respectively.

The festival drew a total of 154 participants including Thang-Ta athletes and instructors from 17 Thang-Ta institutes.

During the course of the event, the instructors imparted knowledge about the traditional martial art form to the participating athletes, who also had competitions among themselves.

The dignitaries who spoke during the closing ceremony stressed the need for the young generation to learn the indigenous art form.
