Imphal, July 24 2014: The 8th Foundation day of National Sports Academy was held at the premises of the Academy located within Khuman Lampak Sports complex here today.

The function was attended by retired IAS officer Ch.

Birendra and Commissioner of Youth Affairs & Sports and Arts and Culture Dr.R.K.Nimai, IAS as chief guest and president respectively.

To mark the occasion, a tree plantation drive was also carried out under the leadership of RK.

Nimai.

Demonstration on Taekwondo and entertainment programme were other highlights of the function.

It may be recalled that, since the inception of National Sports Academy way back in 2007 under the special packages of Prime Minister of India, players from the Academy have bagged so far 45 medals at various national level championships.

The Academy has produced a player who won bronze medal in Asian Youth Judo Championship held at Chinese Taipei, Taiwan in 2012 .

Players who have won medals in national and international level championships were also honoured with presenting of prizes and gifts on the occasion.
