Army organises cricket match in Kumbi

Imphal, July 21 2024: Indian Army today organises an exhibition cricket match in Kumbi, Bishnupur in the lead up to the silver jubilee commemoration of the Kargil Vijay Diwas that will be held on July 26 .

The event aimed at promoting youth engagement in the area featured two teams- Khuga Athletics and Library Association and Kumbi Cricket Club (KCC), said PIB in a statement.

The event began with an introduction to Kargil Vijay Diwas and by paying tributes to the gallant heroes of the 1999 Kargil War and it was followed by a flag hoisting ceremony and playing of the National anthem.

KCC emerged champions of the match which was played in the T10 format (10- overs in an innings) and was witnessed by local residents in Sitapur, Kumbi, it said.

Additionally a short movie on the success of Operation Vijay was screened for the children at Brightway Shelter Orphanage in Kumbi, it added.
