4th Hill District Sports Meet : Constrasting wins for Chandel, CCpur

Imphal, March 21 2018: Chandel District secured a narrow 1-0 over Ukhrul while Churachandpur District drubbed Tamenglong 6-1 in today's league matches of the football competition held as a part of the 4th edition of Hill District Sports Meet, 2018 being organised by Hill District Sports Association at Local ground, Senapati.

In the Group A league match of the day, Emanuel scored a single in the 22nd minute of the match to give Chandel District the first win of the competition.

In the group B league match staged today, Churanchandpur District rode on Ginminthang H to enjoy a comfortable 6-1 win over the Tamenglong District.

Ginminthang and Paokhongam scored one each in the 14th and the 19th minute to give their team a 2-0 first half lead.

The onslaught continued in the second half as well with Ginminthang scoring thrice and Lunneo adding a single.

Ginminthang H opened up his second half score in the 63rd minute before striking another in the 65th minute to make it 4-0.The Tamenglong side who had been ineffective for major of the match managed to grab a goal in the 72nd minute making the scoreline 1-4 .

Lunneo Zou then took control of the match and netted his single in the 80th minute.

Despite huge lead, Churachandpur continued to press their rivals and it was star of the match, Ginminthang who struck the finisher in the last minute and gave his team a convincing 6-1 victory.

Sadar Hills will take on Chandel in a Group A league match tomorrow at 1 pm while Senapati will meet Tamenglong in the last Group B league match latter at 3 pm.

Women Volleyball .

In the opening day of the Women's Volleyball competition, Chandel District got better of Churachandpur District by 2-1 sets in a Group A league match.

Chandel lost the second set before wrapping up the game 25-22, 22-25, 16-14 .

Chandel were also awarded a walk over as Ukhrul team failed to show up for the second Group A league match.

In the Group B league match of the day, Senapati outclassed Sadar Hills 25-12, 25-17 to earn full points.
