FC Lamjao, UPAA post narrow wins in 17th Manipur State League

Imphal, February 18 2025: United Progressive Adults' Association (UPAA), Kyamgei and FC Lamjao secured victories in today's matches of the ongoing 17th Manipur State League.

In a Group A match staged this afternoon at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong, UPAA sealed a slender 1-0 win over Rahee UC, Kamjong.

The lone goal that made all the difference was scored by Khaiden Rajanikanta in the 35th minute.

In the Group B match staged later in the day at the same venue, FC Lamjao rode on first half goals to edge 2-1 past Athletics Football Club (AFC), Thoubal.

FC Lamjao had a bright start to the game dominating the earlier proceedings and went ahead after 16 minutes off a penalty that was beautifully converted by Elangbam Joykison.

They carried forward the momentum and doubled the advantage through Ningthoujam Abungton in the 27th minute to enter into the break with a 2-0 lead.

AFC, who were unlucky to make the most of their chances in the first half, however put in more efforts after the restart and pulled back a goal in the 68th minute through Wahengbam Tejkumar.

Though the goal boosted their morale to a certain extent, they could not penetrate the heightened defence set up of FC Lamjao in the remaining part of the game and eventually the Lamjao side walked away with all three points.

YOSC will play TRAU in a Group A match tomorrow from 12.30 pm at Sagolmang ground before NACO play SFC in a Group B match later in the day at the same venue.
