AMFA Cup: AFC ease to win, FC Imphal held by GDC

Imphal, July 17 2024: Angtha FC drubbed YDO 3-0 while FC Imphal City were held to a 1-1 draw by GDC in Group A matches of the 3rd AMFA Cup 2023-24 on Wednesday.

Konthoujam Dhruv Singh, Konthoujam Donel Singh and Kongkham Thoithoi Meitei all got their names on the score-sheet in Angtha FC's comfortable 3-0 win over YDO.

It was Dhruv who set the tone for the rout in the first half when he found the back of the net in the 33rd minute.

Angtha FC then stamped their authority with Donel on target in the 57th minute before Thoithoi tripled their lead in the 78th minute to ensure they collected full points with ease.

In other Group A encounter, FC Imphal City and GDC split the points after a 1-1 draw.

FC Imphal City had a promising start as they scored early through Robinson Usham, who put his team ahead just two minutes from kickoff.

After gruelling minutes of intense battle, GDC managed to find the leveller in the 68th minute courtesy of Pukhrambam Zidan Singh.

In the ensuing minutes of contest, neither team was unable to break the deadlock and had to settle for one point apiece.

On Thursday (July 18, 2024), IFA will be up against ESU at 1 pm as UPAA square off against XI Star later at 3 pm .
