State Games for intellectually disabled to begin from Mar 23

Imphal, March 17 2018: Special Olympics Bharat Manipur Chapter will organise the State Games for persons with intellectual disabilities under Khelo India Scheme of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports from March 23 to 26 at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

About 300 athletes with intellectual disabilities, coaches, care takers, parents from across five districts; Bishnupur, Imphal East, Imphal West, Kakching and Thoubal are participating in this State games said a press release issued by Special Olympics Bharat, Manipur Chapter.

Athletics, Unified Sports (bocce), Badminton, Football (5-a side), Table Tennis and BOCCE will be conducted under the rules of Special Olympics Bharat in the State Games.

The disciplines will be organised for sub-junior (8-11 yrs), junior (12-16 yrs) and senior (17 yrs and above) categories for both male and female.

The statement further mentioned that the athletes who perform well in this championship will represent Manipur in the National Games 2018 .
