AS Khangamapam wins Ibetombi badminton title

AS Khangamapam of KJDBA defeated Rajkumar Thoungamba Meetei (BDBA) 21-17, 21-13 to win the men's singles title of the 1st Thongam Ibetombi Devi Memorial Non-State Badminton Tournament 2024 on Monday.
Khangamapam wrested the title of the men's doubles with Pouchundibou Newmai of TMLDBA.
Other winners in various categories included Wung-mayo Vashum/Charanai Rozina of SDBA (mixed doubles), Salam Joyraj Singh of IEDBA (boys' singles U-9), Vinci Namram of TDBA (girls' singles U9), Christina Sinam of BDBA (GS U15), Khwairakpam Ranjit Singh of Bishnupur (MS 50), Luckleiphi Pharung Awungshi of UDBA (GS U13), Thongam Ibotomba Singh of TDBA (MS 60), Jia Sananbam of IEDBA (GS U11), Wungmayo Vashum of SDBA (BS U19), Pouchundibou Newmai of TMLDBA (BS U11), Ashangbam Devika of IWDBA (GS U17), Narengbam Sunder Singh of TDBA (MS 45), K Anish Kumar Singh/Mahesh Laishram of TDBA (boys' doubles U13), Danish Tekcham of TDBA (BS U15) and Mutum Ibomcha Singh/Pukhrambam Meipakshana Singh of IEDBA (MD 50) .

The closing function of the tournament was held at MBA Indoor Stadium, DM University campus with chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, YAS director T Phulen Meitei and retired FCI GM and Olympian Ksh Thoiba Singh as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
