CC Meet: RAU outplay UBSA, XI Star hold PAMYAL

Imphal, February 12 2022: RAU came out 4-2 victors against UBSA as PAMYAL were held to a 1-1 draw by XI Star SU in Saturday's encounters of the 63rd CC Meet at Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.

In RAU's convincing triumph over UBSA, Lamjinba, Jangjagin, W Michael and Ng Jiten all got their names on the scoresheet.

It was Lamjinba who registered the first shot on target and put RAU ahead seven minutes into regulation.

RAU made further inroads in the 20th minute when Jangjagin was in action in a goalmouth melee and the scoreline stayed 2-0 until UBSA reduced the arrears in the 36th minute through L Joseph as RAU went into the second half leading 2-1.After conceding a goal in the first period, RAU got their momentum back after the break with W Michael collecting their third goal in the 64th minute before Joseph netted his second in the 70th minute for UBSA.

RAU, however, reorganised and stamped their authority when Ng Jiten restored their two-goal cushion in the 87th minute, leaving too little time for their opponents to mount a comeback.

The second match saw Giftson Kamei's last-gasp goal salvage a 1-1 draw for XI Star SU against PAMYAL.

W Rojen Meitei gave PAMYAL the lead in the 38th minute and the side kept their slender advantage intact for almost for the rest of the contest until XI Star sprang a surprise in the final seconds of stoppage with Giftson scoring the equaliser.

On Sunday, SU take on NISA in a Group A clash at 10 am, NESU face KSC in other Group A match at 12.15 pm, and Classic FA play AIM in a Group B encounter at 2.15 pm .
