1st Phantu volleyball tournament begins

Imphal, April 08 2024: The 1st Phantu Volleyball Tournament organised by Lambung Youth & Cultural Club (LYCC), commenced from Monday at LP School Ground, Lambung in Chandel district.

Organised under the theme 'Identity for Peace and Integrity', the Inter Anal Village Level tournament is being participated by over 40 men, women and veteran teams.

In the first men's match, Chandel Christian Youth Club (CCYC) defeated Chandel Khullel by 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 26-24) as Lamphoupasna beat Phiran Khullen by 3 sets (27-25, 25-23, 25-15) in the opening veteran match.

In the women's competition, Cheengkhu defeated Chandel Khullel by 3-2 sets (27-25, 21-25, 18-25, 25-17, 15-11) while Hnahringkhu trounced Lambung-C 3-0 (25-7, 25-8, 25-17) and Phungchung outclassed Modi 3-0 (25-4,25-13,25-15) .

Earlier, the opening ceremony was blessed by Lambung Baptist Church pastor reverend Sng Nelson, with the invocation done by assistant pastor Dy Thawar with LYCC president Sng Ningam welcoming the gathering.

Lambung village chief Dy Alam delivered a short note on the tournament while St Ngamniwar sang the Phantu Anthem.
