Imphal, February 08 2025: CYCLONE, Thangmeiband defeated SNC, Sangaiprou by 7 wickets in the opening match (Group A) of the 12th Veteran T-20 Cricket Tournament organised by the Manipur Veteran Cricket Association at Langthabal Public ground.

SNC won the toss and opted to bat first this morning.

They registered 139 runs for the loss of 6 wickets before CYCLONE chased down the target in 17 overs with 7 wickets left to spare by riding on a half century knock from Tarun 58 off 54 balls and Shashikumar's unbeaten 36 off 30 balls.

Earlier, Thawai Chingtham 40 off 38 balls, N Rajen 32 off 24 balls, M Ranendrajit 20 not out off 18 balls and Ronelkumar 18 made significant contributions in SNC's innings that saw Tarun pick three wickets (3/26) and three others- W Surjit, Narjit and Dhanendrajit claim a wicket apiece.

For SNC, Romeshchandra, Maison and Ronelkumar claimed a wicket apiece.

Tarun of CYCLONE who produced an allround performance was adjudged man of the match.

The 19-team tournament will be played on a league cum knock-out basis.

YUCC will play YPHU in the next match tomorrow morning in the Group C opener before UCC take on ESU in the Group B opener.
