AITA Super Series Manipur's Bhushan and Rahul clinch doubles title

Imphal, December 07 2017: Bhushan Haobam and Rahul Panmei of Manipur clinched the doubles title after defeating Udit Gogoi and Promil Bordoloi of Assam 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) in the ongoing AITA Super Series 2017 at Officers’ Club Deco Turf Court, Lamphelpat .

The tournament, which has 30 boys and 21 girls in the under-16 category, is organised by the Manipur Tennis Association with support from the All India Tennis Association .

With Abi San and Bhakti Parwani of Gujarat claiming the girls’ doubles title, the prize distribution ceremony was held today for the doubles’ winners .

The Gujarat duo had defeated the pair of Salavisa Ghosh (West Bengal) and Krisi Boro (Assam) by 6-2, 6-2 .

In the semifinal, they had outclassed Ananya Yadav and Koyna Shrikant 6-2, 6-1 .

In the other semi-final, Ghosh and Boro had defeated the Assamese pair of Isika Chakma and Sakchi Barua by 7-5, 7-5 .

In the boys’ singles final, Udit Gogoi of Assam will play against Ajay Singh of Chandigarh .

In the girls’ singles final, Bhakti Parwani will face Vaisnabi Agdar; and both the matches are scheduled tomorrow .

In one of the singles semifinals today, Gogoi beat Akhilendra Indrabalan by 6-4, 6-4.In the other, Ajay Singh overcame Adit Tejwala by 6-1, 6-7 (1-7), 6-2 .

In the girls’ semifinals, Bhakti Parwani had defeated Krisi Boro 2-6, 6-1 and 6-4 while Vaisnabi Agdar had beaten Koya Sircar 6-0, 6-2 .
