Imphal, May 06 2015 : RK Apollosana crush RK Bhogen, overnight joint leader, to surge ahead from the pack in the 20th Y Nilamani Memorial State Level Open Chess Tournament organized by Singjamei Chess Club (SCC), Imphal on Wednesday.

The 6th round of the 9round tournament witnesses battles among the top rated player.

In the battle among the overnight joint leaders RK Apollosana defended his reputation as the top rank player in the tournament by handing a crushing blow to RK Bhogen (2nd seeded) with white pieces to be on top with 5.5 points.

With the defeat RK Bhogen slipped to third spot with 4.5 point.

Bhogen is being given company by H Jacky; KH Sanjoy; G Inao; E Shashikanta and A Jibon.

S Premjit and Th Nabachandra jumped to second spot after wining their 6th round matches with 5 points.

The 7th and 8th round matches of the 68 players' tournament will be played at the Multipurpose Hall, Manipur College, Singjamei at 7:30 am and 1:00 pm on May 7 .
