Imphal, February 03 2020: Manipur's H Jinarani Devi and Ch Rishikanta had won a bronze medal each for the State on the opening day of the 72nd Men and 35th Women Senior National Weightlifting Championships being held in Kolkata.

H Jinarani won the bronze medal in the women's 45 kg event with a total effort of 157 kg (66 kg in snatch and 91 kg in clean and jerk) .

The first and second place titles in this category went to (Railway Sports Promotion Board) RSPB's Jhilli (160 kg total) and MV Thusmita (159 kg total) respectively.

Meanwhile, Ch Rishikanta lifted 106 kg in snatch and 133 kg in clean and jerk to amass 239 kg total and win the bronze medal in the men's 55 kg class.

Sanket Sarkar of Maharashtra who managed a total lift of 243 kg (108+135) bagged the gold medal while A Gunasekar of RSPB with 241 kg total in his name settled for the silver medal.
