Solidarity Football Tournament ends with gala ceremony

Imphal, November 30 2019:
Solidarity Football Tournament organised by Moreh Battalion Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) in collaboration with District Football Association, Tengnoupol came to an end today after 8 days of action.
The initiative by Assam Rifles brought the multi ethnic town of Moreh together said a press release of IGAR (S) .

The event was participated by a total of 12 super enthusiastic teams from all corners of Moreh town it continued.
Similar tournament was organized few weeks back at Tamu, Myanmar wherein teams from both the border area towns Moreh and Tamu participated and spared the message of love and friendship against insurgency and drug abuse, the release added.
In continuation to these efforts of getting the two countries together with overall development of the border towns, the Moreh Battalion Assam Rifles will subsequently organise a similar tournament at Moreh wherein both male and female teams from Moreh and surrounding areas as well as Tamu and surrounding areas will participate and showcase their zeal and enthusiasm for football, the release added.
The closing ceremony commenced with a friendly match between Tamu Veterans and Moreh Veterans teams in which Moreh Veterans defeated Tamu veterans 2-0, the release said.
The closing ceremony was graced by Brigadier Sunil Sheoran, SM**, Commander 26 Sector Assam Rifles; Col Sumit Sood, Commandant of Moreh Battalion; Maj Wai Lin Soe, Officiating CO 266 LIR; Ko Aung Tu, president Tamu Youth Network; Haokip, ADC Member; Thangboi Haokip, president KSO Moreh; Robin Gangte, ICP Manager and other dignitaries of Moreh town.
The tournament culminated with a vote of thanks from Col Sumit Sood, Commandant Moreh Battalion Assam Rifles and peppy beats of Assam Rifles jazz band.
The event also marked the raising day celebration of Moreh Battalion Assam Rifles which falls on December 1 and as a mark towards contribution to the society the troops will also conduct a blood donation camp at its HQs in collaboration with Shija Hospital, Imphal, the release added.
