UPAA beat AFC to clinch AMFA Cup title

Imphal, July 31 2024: United Progressive Adults' Association (UPAA) overcame Angtha FC in a penalty shootout to win the 3rd AMFA Cup 2023-24 at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong on Wednesday.

The final was a closely fought contest, with neither team managing to score in the first half despite some missed opportunities.

After the restart, the game intensified as UPAA stole a march on Angtha FC when Vyas Loktongbam scored in the 69th minute.

Angtha FC responded with a determined effort to make it all square, but UPAA's defence held firm.

However, Angtha FC's persistence paid off in the final moments of stoppage time when Jemson Chanabam scored a leveller, sending the match to a penalty shootout.

In the shootout, UPAA's Blessing Keishing, Md Wazid Khan, Surchandra Meetei Yumnam, and Vyas Loktongbam all converted their penalties, securing a 4-3 victory over Angtha FC, who had their goals scored by Konthoujam Dhruv Singh, Laishram Sailesh Singh, and Chanambam Mangal Singh.
