Imphal East shine in Compound Archery events, grab 5 gold

Imphal, August 27 2022: Imphal East won as many as 7 medals including 5 gold medals today in the senior compound events in the 2nd Manipur Olympic Games Archery being underway at SAI NERC Takyel.

In the women's team compound event final, Imphal East team comprising Th Senyai, Ksh Malemsana, K Pravahini and Sh Manorama amassed 214 points to beat Imphal West team who managed 172 points.

Sh Ramakanta, Y Rojit, Th Surajnganba and O Henary shot 223 points to win Imphal East another gold medal finishing with just one more point than the second placed Imphal West team.

Kakching finished third in the competition.

In the women's Olympic round event, Imphal East's Ksh Malemsana beat compatriot Th Senyai 142-138 to win the gold as Imphal West's Mutum Rupan bagged the bronze medal.

Imphal East's Sh Ramakanta in the meantime shot 145 to win the men's gold beating his compatriot Y Rojit who managed 140 points in the final.

L Yohenba of Kakching won the bronze medal in this category.

In the compound mixed team event, Sh Ramakanta and Th Senyai earned Imphal East the today's 5th gold medal in archery by amassing 150 points.

Mutum Bikram and Mutum Rupan Devi of Imphal West bagged the silver medal with a score of 142 points as L Yohenba and Th Ishembi of Kakching settled for the bronze medal.
