BBAUD felicitates Tangkhul athletes Solimla, Solan

Body Building Association, Ukhrul District (BBAUD) on Monday felicitated Tangkhul athletes Solimla Jajo and Solan Jajo celebrating their notable performances at the recently concluded 54th Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championship 2022 in Maldives, during a ceremony held in Ukhrul town.
Both Solimla Jajo (17) of Kasom Khullen village, and Solan Jajo (17) of Leishi village, from the Tangkhul community of Manipur represented Team India at the recent fitness championship.
Solimla won the silver medal in the 165 cm Senior Model Physique competition, while Solan Jajo finished fourth in the 160 cm Senior Model Physique category.
The felicitation ceremony held at the town hall at Phungreitang was attended by Ukhrul DC Krishna Kumar as chief guest and Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) vice president K Tuisem as guest of honour.
Speaking at the event.
DC Krishna Kumar congratulated the two young female athletes on securing second and fourth places at the competition and wished them the best in their future endeavours.
"Ukhrul district may not be known to many outsiders.
But now their success stories have exposed the district not just at the national level but to the entire world" he remarked.
Krishna Kumar, who had extended financial and moral support to the two athletes ahead of the championship event, further assured of his support and assistance to the two girls in the future.

K Tuisem also congratulated the two girls on behalf of the Tangkhul community.
stating "w e salute them for bring honour to our community, our state and our nation."He then appealed to the state government to honour both Solimla and Solan with whatever it could as an encouragement.

Even then, he said that the lackadaisical attitude of the district administration of Kamjong towards the achievements of the two girls is distressing.
He lamented that so far Kamjong DC has not come forward to show support to the young athletes.
During the ceremony, BBAUD also expressed gratitude to minister Khashim Vashum for extending monetary incentive of Rs 50,000 to the two young athletes.

Robert Meitei handed over a sum of Rs 25,000 each, to Solimla Jajo and Solan Jajo.
Both Solimla and Solan also took turns to share their experiences that they described as a mixture of happiness and sadness.
"I was happy because I got selected for the championship but on the other hand.
I was sad knowing that my family would not be able to support me with all the requirements," Solimla said.
'"The overwhelming support and response from the public has made me realise the importance of helping others in need.
It has taught me to become a better person, sensitive to the situation of the needy," Solan confided.
They attributed their success to the support of their parents.
