Junior Girls NFC : Manipur top Tripura 2-0 to seal quarter final berth

Imphal, April 24 2019: Manipur Girls extended their winning run at the Hero Junior Girls National Football Championship beating Tripura 2-0 and secured their place in the quarter finals as Group C winners.

The championship which began on April 20 at Kolhapur, Maharashtra under the aegis of All India Football Federation is featuring a total of 27 teams clustered into 8 groups.

Having thrashed Uttarakhand and Goa by the same 4-0 margin in the previous ties, the girls took control of the first half with a 2-0 lead against Tripura and held on to their lead to earn all three points.

N Shivani opened up the scoring early in the 9th minute while the second goal came from the feet of S Lynda Kom who is in prolific from in the 15th minute.

Manipur will face Jharkhand on April 26 for a place in the semi-final.
