13th Tellou Trophy : FC Lamlai, BSU book quarter final berths

FC Lamlai saw off Keibi Heikak Mapal by 6-3 goals in a high scoring last 16 round clash while BSU, Kakching edged out EUSC, Tellou by 5-3 goals via a penalty shoot-out after a 2-2 draw today to book quarter final berths of the 13th Tellou Joint Cooperative Farming Society Ltd Trophy 2018 being organised by Eastern United Sporting Club at Tellou Kangjeibung.
Both sides produced one of the most exciting matches though FC Lamlai had a bigger day at the end.
Herojit, Aboi and Anosh scored two goals each for the Lamlai side while Keibi side rode on Sanathoi and Amarjit to three goals.
Herojit etched his name on the scoresheet for being the first scorer of the match, netting the first goal in the 16th minute before he struck his second goal in the 28th minute.
Aboi scored the second goal for FC Lamlai in the 25th minute to double the lead but Sanathoi of Keibi Mapal came back with a stunning goal to reduce the margin by 1 goals.
Aboi then scored his second goal in the 31st minute making it 4-1 while Anosh scored a brace (39', 53') to make it 6-3 at the end.
Sanathoi also struggled hard to stage a comeback with another goal in the 38th minute before Amarjit scored the last goal for Keibi Heikakmapal FC in the 49th minute.
The next pre-quarterfinal match of the day saw EUSC, Tellou hold by BSU, Kakching to a 2-2 draw during the regulation time.
EUSC took a 1-0 lead in the 23 rd minute through a goal scored by Binod in the 23rd minute after a cautious start from both sides.
Herojit of BSU however found the equaliser after several attempts.
The parity did not last long as Jiten of EUSC broke the deadlock in the 44th minute giving his team a new hope.
Their dream of entering into quarter finals was literally broken when star of the day, Herojit netted another goal for the Kakching side in the 50th minute levelling the score till the end of the regulation time and stretching the game to the tie breaker.
In the shoot-out only Etomba of EUSC was able to slot home the ball while Priyanda, Rabichandra and Rajesh of confident BSU beat the keeper of EUSC to book the quarter final berth with a 5-3 win.
Bolero Sekta will take on the 7th pre-quarterfinal match tomorrow at 1.30 pm while Lucky Star, Achanbigei will lock horns with PYDA, Pangei in the last pre-quarterfinal match.
