Indian team leader Gyaneshwor felicitated

Imphal, September 18 2011: The Manipur Badminton Association accorded warm welcome to Hodam Gyaneshwor who was recently at Isle of Man, England leading the Indian contingent for the Youth Commonwealth Games held from September 7 to 13.The association welcomed Gyanaeshwor at the Imphal Airport on September 16, the officials and players as well as members attended the reception function.

Later a formal reception function also held at the conference hall of the Association at D.M.College campus with Bijoy Koijam, President of the Association as well as the President of the Manipur Olympic Association.

Speaking at the function, Bijoy Koijam termed the selection of Gyaneshwor as the Chief De Mission as a big honor for Manipur and reflects the contributions by Manipur to Indian sports.

Gyaneshwor said his selection by the Indian Olympic Association as Chief De Mission at the recent 8th Youth Commonwealth Games is due to the exceptional achievements the sportspersons and sports administrators of the state.

It may be noted here that Gynasehswor, Vice President of the Manipur Badminton Association and Joint Secretary of the Indian Olympic Association had earlier officiated at various international Badminton Championships since 1982 New Delhi Asiad as Referee as well as Umpire.
