Governor's Taekwondo Cup: S Bikramjit bags top honour on opening day

Imphal, April 16 2015 : The 11th Governor's Tackwondo Cup gets underway at Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak under the aegis of All Manipur Tackwondo Association (AMTA) on Thursday.

Altogether 341 Black Belt holders (180 girls and 161 boys) under the AMTA from 13 Tackwondo units are participating in the four-day span competition to vie for the prestigious title in different weight categories.

S Bikramjit (SAI-RC) secured the Senior Men's U-80 kg title by defeating H Rambo (UTA) in the first final match played on the opening day while Vimme M (UTA) side step Joypriya (UTA) for the gold in Senior Women's U-62 kg event.

In another final match, K Uttam Meetei (UTA) thwarts L Krishnakumar (Khuyathong) in the Sub Junior Boys U-27 kg to return as the champion.

Suraj Y (ESU) and Th John (UTA) settle for bronze in the same event.

In Junior Boys U-63 kg section, L Yaikhamba (NSA) kicks out Sachin (SAI-RC) to crown as the champion while Agashya Maibam (Naoriya) and Md Akbar Shah (Sora) ended with bronze medal.

N Rolin (PTA) fights out Robinson Soraisam (UTA) for the gold medal in the Sub Junior Boys U-32 kg category.

In the same weight category, Md Mashood (Sora) and B Kheleshwor (UTA) had to settle with bronze.

Earlier, the championship gets underway in the presence of Tongbram Mangibabu Singh, Chairman Planning and Development Authority (PDA) Manipur; Y Khemchand, President AMTA and other dignitaries.
