NIO & CHYUC overcome stiff challenge

Imphal, March 16 2015: NIO Sanjengbung and CHYUC Chaloi defeated their opponents in the final league math of the ongoing Pungdongbam Cup Lamlai Kendra Inter Village Wise Football Tournament being played at Ofa ground being organised by YDCL Pungdongbam on Monday.

NIO and SSC � C Sekta played the first match of the day.

As the players settle down N Sanajaoba scored the first goal of the match at 20 min to hand the initiative to NIO.

SSC- C players responded to the challenge of NIO and restored parity when M Asha scored a fine goal after 4 min.

Both the teams go into the first half at 1-1 .

As both the teams began second half a goal at the initial minutes from W Kiran (48 min) wrested the initiatives in favour of NIO.

After falling behind again SSC- C players came back with a flurry of attacks.

The defence of NIO stood firm, did not wilted under the SSC- C attacks and defended their 1 goal lead till the end.

The final score line reads 2-1 in favour of NIO Snajengbung.

In the second match, CHYUC Chaloi clashed with YDCL � B Pungdongbam.

The first half was a high intensity game.

Very early in the match W Krishna of CHYUC scored a goal in 17 min to hand the lead to CHYUC.

Before CHYUC players could sink in the lead, H Poireiton of YDCL � B restored parity by scoring a goal through a fast counter attach in the next minute.

The joy of YDCL � B was short-leave as W Krishna restored the lead in favour of CHYUC by pumping in a gaol in the next minute.

YDCL � B tried their best to stay in the match but CHYUC defenders nullified all the attempts and the lead was preserved till the end.

CHYUC marched away with the match with 2-1 score.

In the quarter final of the competition EUSC Teloi will clash with BSU Nongpok Kackhing and YYC Yourbung will vie with SSC-A Sekta for a place in semi final on Tuesday.
