UTA crowned champions of Governor's Cup

Union Taekwondo Academy were crowned overall champions of the 16th Governor's Taekwondo Cup 2022 as the four-day-long competition wrapped up on Sunday.
The UTA athletes reaped a rich haul of 63 medals over the course of the competition, racking up 3444 points to clinch the overall title.
Their medal haul included 13 gold, 19 silver and 31 bronze.
On the final day, UTA added three gold, three silver and two bronze to complete their medal collection.
The team won their three gold medals through performances by M Pareihanba (senior men's 68kg), Binita Laishram (senior women's 57kg) and Maibam Jolika (senior women's 73kg) .
UTA's silver medallists were S Lamnganbi (senior women's 57kg), Soma Nongmaithem (cadet girls' 44kg) and Toijam Tondonsana (senior men's 87kg), while Arambam Precila (junior girls' 52kg) and Moirangthem Sanathoi (cadet girls' 51kg) took the bronze medals.
Pakhanga Taekwondo Academy (PTA) finished runners-up with 3190 points courtesy of their 42 medals including 20 gold, six silver and 16 bronze.
PTA failed to win a single medal on the last day of the Taekwondo event.
National Sports Academy (NSA), who completed the top three, made the most of the last day by clinching five gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
In all, NSA collected 31 medals to gain 1976 points.
They won 10 gold, nine silver and 12 bronze medals to claim the third place.
Hafiz Kahtun (junior boys' 59kg), Nitesh Waribam (cadet boys' 49kg), N Tomba (cadet boys' 57kg), N Rebeca (cadet girls' 51kg) and Irengbam Chinguleima (junior girls' 68kg) emerged as the top finishers for NSA on the final day.
The team's claimed their two silver medals through E Rakesh (junior boys' 59kg) and Laishram Lucky Chanu (junior girls 52kg), and also two bronze courtesy of A Lanchenba (cadet boys' 49kg) and Sh Christina (cadet girls' 51kg).The closing ceremony saw YAS & works minister Konthoujam Govindas Singh, Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh, MLA Kongkham Robindro Singh and MLA S Kebi Devi present as chief guest, president and guests of honour, respectively.
