12th DSA Trophy SSU stun MPSC, enter SF

Imphal, March 14 2016: SSU, Singjamei stormed into the semifinal in the ongoing 12th Naorem Bhubon Memorial DSA Trophy State Level Invitation Football Tournament, organised by the District Sports Association (DSA), Kakching under the aegis of All Manipur Football Association (AMFA), today at DSA playground, Kakching.

In the third quarterfinal match today, SSU, Singjamei edged past MPSC by a margin of 9 goals to eight via penalty shoot-out after both the sides were locked 2-2 in normal time.

Hangshing and Khem Bahadur scored a goal each for MPSC in the 16th and 46th minute.

On the other side, SSU rallied from behind and held their opponent to a 2-2 draw after Raju (83rd) and Dayananda (91st) scored a goal each in the dying minutes.

In the penalty shootout, SSU witnessed seven goals through Dayananda, Riyaz Khan, Sahidur Rehman, Roshan, Raju, Gogocha and Khup.

On the other side, Kanta, Golmei, Emil, Mahulung, Priyobarta and Somorendro found their targets.

Arun of SSU and Benjamin of MPSC were sent off in the 40th and 42nd minute respectively while Somochandra was booked with a yellow card during the match for unsporting behaviour.
