Asufii FA lift Independence Day Cup in Assam

Asufii Football Academy (AFA) Mao brought immense pride to Manipur by winning the 76th All India Independence Day Prize Cup 2024, held at Nurul Amin Stadium, Nagaon, Assam, on Sunday.
Representing Manipur as nominated the All Manipur Football Association (AMFA), AFA triumphed on the grass field by defeating the formidable Oil India Football Team, considered the tournament's strongest contender, in a thrilling 2-1 final.
The Senapati-based football academy, renowned for its prowess, had earlier reached the final of the NSF Martyr's Cup 2024 .
In a packed stadium, AFA's victory was sealed by decisive goals from Bijoy Mukang and Sarormi.
Additionally, AFA's winger, Jangjagin Kipgen, was recognised as the tournament's best player.
The team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs, a trophy, and citations.
On their journey back to Manipur, AFA's technical director, Gift Raikhan, expressed heartfelt gratitude to AMFA for nominating the academy for this prestigious tournament.
The veteran player and seasoned coach highlighted the significance of such opportunities, emphasising the invaluable exposure and experience they provide to young players.
