4th Sangai Trophy : TBSFA FC beat KVFA 3-1, qualify for quarters as Group C runners up

Imphal, June 08 2022: TBSFA FC defeated KVFA 3-1 for the third win and to qualify for the quarter finals of the 4th Sangai Trophy Veteran Football Championship being organised by United Veteran Football Association Manipur at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.

TBSFA FC who have won 6-1 against SIRTI FC, Chandel and 3-1 against TRVSA, Malom started the game cautiously and took a slender 1-0 lead with O Inaocha finding the target in the 12th minute of the match.

Herojit then doubled the advantage in the 48th minute as TBSFA FC kept on pressing their rivals before Inaocha struck yet again in the first minute of the stoppage time (70+1') to make it 3-0 .

KVFA, Kakching who have won only once in three previous matches managed to score a face saving goal 5 minutes into the stoppage time via Th Rengshel.

With the win, TBSFA FC finished second on 9 points in four Group C league matches as UVSA, Chajing emerged Group winners with four of four league stage wins.

In an inconsequential Group C match staged later in the day, W Umakanta netted twice to inspire TRVSA a 5-1 win over SIRTI FC, Chandel.

The Malom side dominated from the word go and were 4-0 ahead before the break as Th Sanjoy opened the scoring in the 1st minute before W Umakanta banged in two goals back to back in the 11th and the 18th minutes to make it 3-0 .

K Bobo then made it 4-0 with his strike in the 22nd minute before Borpha Monsang pulled back a goal for the Chandel team in the 42nd minute.

N Sarat then fired home the decisive goal for TRVSA in the 50th minute of the match.
