Manipur clinch two gold medals on Day One of National aquatic championships

Manipur got their campaign off to a flying start by winning two gold medals at the 40th Sub-Junior & 50th Junior National Aquatic Championships 2024 in Bhubaneshwor on Tuesday.
Koijam Athoiba Singh and Laitonjam Lanchenba did the state proud by clinching gold medals on the opening day of the competition.
Koijam Athoiba clocked 02:14.66 minutes to give Manipur their first gold medal.
He won his yellow metal in the boys' group-III 200m freestyle event.
Later in the day, Laitonjam Lanchenba followed suit by winning gold medal in the boys' group-II 100m butterfly event, giving Manipur a double thrill on the first day of the 40th Sub-Junior & 50th Junior National Aquatic Championships 2024, which concludes on August 11.The state aquatic team consists of 12 swimmers.
Koijam Athoiba Singh, Laikhuram Piouson, Sarung-bam Athouba Meitei, Laitonjam Lanchenba, Nongmaithem Dhananjoy Meitei, David Sapam, Budhachandra Nongthombam, Pravesh Mathurabashimayum, Laitonjam Punghen, Soram Pietersen, Panthoi Devi Sagolsem and Luchingbi Soubam make up the team.
