Keirak FC clinch Lamjingba Trophy 5-a-side football title

Thoubal, December 05 2024: Keirak FC beat Friendship United in the final of the 1st Lamjingba Trophy State Level 5-Men-a-side Football Tournament 2024, held at Tek-cham Maning Leikai, Thoubal on Thursday.

The match was decided by penalty kicks after both teams remained goalless at the end of regulation time.

In the penalty shootout, Keirak FC prevailed 2-1 against their opponents to clinch the title.

The closing ceremony was attended by Sanjoy Singh, chartered accountant, Langpoklakpam Shyamananda Singh, principal Khongjom Standard English School, Soibam Kullabidhu, ex-member Langathel Zilla Parishad, as chief guest, president and guest of honour, respectively.

The dignitaries handed out prizes to the winners, runners-up, best player (Friendship United's E Dinku), highest scorer and best disciplined team.

A total of 23 teams divided into 8 groups participated in the tournament, which began on July 14, 2024 .
