Jr Boys' NFC: Manipur, Nagaland play split points in 8-goal thriller

Manipur fought back from a goal down to salvage a 4-4 draw against Nagaland in an exhilarating group league match of the Junior Boys' National Football Championship for the BC Roy Trophy Tier 2 at Nurul Amin Stadium in Nagaon, Assam on Saturday.
Nagaland stole a march on the state squad when Moamanen scored in the 27th minute.
Manipur responded strongly, levelling the score when Mohammed Arish Khan found the back of the net in the 43rd minute, and then took the lead with a 51st-minute strike from Mohammed Mansur Alam.
Nagaland made it all square in the 57th minute through Nahpan and went on to gain the upper hand briefly when Ayhunlo Chung converted in the 62nd minute.
Manipur fought their way back into the game in the 69th minute with Shitaljit Haorongband on target.
Nagaland then surged ahead again in the 79th minute, thanks to Menolhusie Rino's goal.
And just as it appeared Nagaland were on track for a win, Manipur pulled off a surprise when Ngangom Washington Singh struck in the leveller in the fifth minute of stoppage.
The draw leaves Manipur with seven points from three games and Nagaland with five points from three matches.
Manipur will next play Lakshadweep on August 5, 2024 .
