1st Basanta Kumar Memorial Football: Poloi Sports School, Golden FA post second straight wins to qualify for quarters

Poloi Sports School (PSS) and Golden Football Academy (GFA) prevailed over their respective rivals for second wins and to secure places in the quarter finals of the 1st Basanta Kumar Memorial Football Tournament (5-a-side : 35 kg) being organised by Poloi Group at Poloi Turf, Chingarel Tejpur.
Having won the opening game 9-1 against Red Machine yesterday, Poloi Sports School cruised to a 6-0 win over ESU, Wangkhei today for their second Group B win on the trot courtesy Island treble.
Langamba opened the scoring in the 16th minute as ESU held their fort firm early on before Naoba doubled the advantage in the 21st minute.
Star of the match, Island then netted his first in the 31st minute to make it 3-0 before pumping in two more goals in the 39th and the 40th minute.
Devit also found his name on the scoresheet, adding once in the 32nd minute.
Meanwhile in a Group C league match staged earlier, Golden FA who trounced Langei FA 7-2 yesterday improved their performance to overwhelm Bung FC 12-0 today.
Dabit took centre stage in this match as he hit a double hat-trick (3', 3', 18', 27', 29', 31') while Golden netted thrice (18', 28', 31') and Jack struck twice (6', 21').The penultimate goal was scored by Lanchenba in the 42nd minute.
Earlier in a Group A encounter, Yaiphaba scored a hattrick to inspire Pakhangba Football Academy to a 5-1 win over Hiyai FA.
Yaiphaba opened the floodgate as early as three minutes into the game before adding two successive goals back to back in the 15th and the 21st minutes.
Suman then made it 4-0 for Pakhangba Football Academy after 33 minutes.
Luxmikanta of Hiyai FA managed to pull back a goal in the 36th minute but it was of no use as Pakhangba FA held on to their lead and added one more via Univash in the 42nd minute to wrap up the game 5-1 for the first win after a 3-3 draw with KSYC, Khurai yesterday.
