59th CC Meet 2015 begins KPSC edge past SIRTI FC 6-5 on penalty

The 59th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament 2015 began today with KPSC, Kakching notching up the first win at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.
The opening ceremony of the tournament which is organised by All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) was attended by IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip and AMFA president P Raghumani as chief guest and president respectively.
In today's opening match, KPSC, Kakching edged past SIRTI FC, Sadar Hills by a margin of 6 goals to five via penalty shoot-out after both sides were locked 2-2 in normal time.
The match began with SIRTI FC dominating the match with better ball possession but their efforts went in vain as they failed to convert their opportunities in the beginning and KPSC snatched their opening goal in the 16th minute through Ngamneiril Kom off a pass from Ksh Ghanashyam.
Nine minutes later, KPSC doubled their lead to 2-0 after Ngamneiril Kom struck home his second goal through a defence splitting pass from Th Rabi in the 25th minute.
On the other hand, SIRTI FC went on the offensive and fought hard till PR Sungrim pulled back a goal in the 32nd minute.
The first half ended with KPSC taking a 2-1 lead.
After the lemon break, SIRTI FC quickly bounced back after PR Singrim found his second goal in the 55th minute through SH Mercont.
Thereafter both the teams tried hard but failed to break through and the match ended 2-2 in normal time.
In the penalty shoot-out, KPSC's Y Gopi Singh, Ksh Rahul, Ngamneiril Kom and L Raju found their targets while Kh Arun failed to convert his kick.
SIRTI FC on the other hand witnessed three goals from W Bonny, Ng Konthang and PR Sungrin while K Ngamsha and TS Shelminthang missed their targets.
KPSC's Ksh Rahul and T Lukhoi were cautioned in the 45th and 59th minute and L Raju was also booked for removing his jersey during his side's victory celebration .
Tomorrow, USA, Khurai will clash with NACO, Nambul Mapal.
