1st Khelo India : Manipur trounce Delhi 9-0

Imphal, February 01 2018: Manipuri girl football team today enjoyed an emphatic 9-0 victory in their first match against Delhi in the 1st Khelo India School Games which began yesterday under the supervision of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports at Delhi.

In this very lopsided match, Y Sarita opened the account for Manipur in the 20th minute while the second goal came from the foot of Th Martina in the 24th minute giving Manipur a 2-0 first half lead.

The scoring fest continued in the second half and women pumped in 7 more goals to edge over Delhi.

S Linda Kom scored twice in this half (49', 80') while star of the day N Priyanka slotted four goals alone in the 50th, 56th, 60th and 90th minute.

Th Babysana also scored a single goal in the 68th minute and completed the 9-0 rout of Delhi.

Manipur will face Tripura in the next match on February 3 .

Manipur senior women football team also brought another good news as they drubbed Maharashtra 6-1 in the 23rd Senior Women National Football Championship 2017-18 which is currently underway at Cuttack, Odisha under the auspices of All India Football Federation.

Altogether 30 teams from across the country clubbed into 8 groups are taking part in this championship.

In today's one sided Group B league match, Ng Bala alone scored 4 goals in the 19th, 24th, 66th and 88th minute while Dangmei Grace scored a brace (71', 77') .

Manipur will take on Karnataka in the next match scheduled on February 3 .
