Minister Dikho inaugurates football turf

Senapati, October 31 2021: Minister L Dikho on Sunday inaugurated a new football turf christened Dribble Pro' at Emesiiphro, near NH-2, Senapati.

During his welcome address, Kobo Moses thanked the dignitaries and invitees for their presence to witness the joyful event of the inaugural function.

He also acknowledged the minister, CSOs, student and youth bodies, villages and well wishers for their active participation and help in completing the project.

Minister L Dikho stated that construction of the football turf was in one way a commercial initiative but it has greater contribution to the society, particularly to sports lovers.

He stressed on the importance of sports industry, especially in Manipur, which has contributed much in the field.

The contribution of sportspersons has greatly benefitted the state besides bringing recognition from all over the world.

It is high time that more focus is put on the sports sector as our youths have proven themselves, he added.

He pointed out that the state government has been promoting sports through the initiative of sports lovers.

Dikho informed that the chief minister Biren will be visiting Senapati in the near future to inaugurate the water supply project, which is nearing completion, as well as to inaugurate other infrastructure.

During his recent discussion with the chief minister, the later had assured to improve sports facilities in the district for professional games and tournaments, he added.

The minister further stated that he would give his focus on sports, particularly football, in the coming days and his dream is to make Senapti a football district in the future.

He lauded the proprietors of the turf for their contribution to the society.

Later, the chief guest opened the kick off ceremony and an exhibition match was played between Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur and Ex-India International team.
