Veteran T-20 Cricket Tournament begins, CYCLONE register first win over KSC

The 6th Edition of T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2017-18 kick-started today at Model Higher Secondary School and Oriental College ground in the presence of Ch Chaoba, retd Additional Director, Horticulture and Soil Conservation who is also vice president of Manipur Cricket Association, N Indrajit Singh, president, Manipur Veteran Cricket Association (MVCA) and A Biren Singh, former general secretary, MCA as distinguished guests.
A total of 8 teams being clustered in two groups are participating in this tournament.
In the opening match played today, CYCLONE, Thangmeiband outclassed KSC, Old Lambulane by 7 wickets in a Group B league match.
Ksc won the toss of this opening match and elected to bat first.
Batting first, KSC managed to score 127 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Lelen was the highest run scorer with 22 runs (34 balls) in his name while Lenpu, Lanboi, Helpao gathered another 53 runs to make it 127 .
CYCLONE's bowlers Arun and Tejbanta took 3 wickets each in this inning while Robindro and Tiken claimed one each.
CYCLONE chased the target comfortably in 17.2 overs for the loss of 3 wickets.
Thoi Thoi struck 43 runs from 30 balls while Shyamsunder added another 34 runs in 31 balls.
Tejbanta and Sachikumar scored 22 runs and 13 runs respectively to reach the target of 128 runs.
Tejbanta was declared man of the match for taking 3 wickets and scoring 22 runs.
CHAMP, Khagempali will play NAPSA, Kha-Imphal tomorrow in a Group A league match.
