Eight powerlifters from Manipur to be part of team India

Imphal, October 29 2017: Eight powerlifters including one reserve from Manipur will be part of the team India which will participate in the Asian Classic Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior and Master Powerlifting Championship to be held at Alampuja, Kerala from December 4 to 9 .

Manipur Powerlifting proposed 15 powerlifters (10 women and 5 men) for the championship on the basis of their previous performances and achievements .

Indian Powerlifting Federation after thorough consideration, approved 8 players namely, Lakshmi Ningthoujam (63 kg) and L Pushparani (above 84 kg) in the junior women category; Th Bidyarani Devi (47 kg), Laishram Memoli Devi (63 kg), Naorem Bebita (72 kg) and O Kalpana (above 84 kg) in the senior women category; Soram Sunil (74 kg) in the men’s sub-junior category; Laishram Pusparani (72 kg) senior women reserved .

Manipur Powerlifting Association congratulated the selected players and wished them luck for the upcoming event.

The association has also encouraged all the players of the State who could not get through in the selection to train harder and work for the upcoming National and international championships.
