CYCLONE, LCCC register wins in 1st Mema Memorial Veteran T-20 Cricket tourney

CYCLONE, Thangmeiband and LCCC, Lilong Chajing registered victories in today's matches of the 1st Khomdram (o) Hijam Mema Devi Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament organised by the Manipur Veteran Cricket Association.
The tournament participated by 15 teams kicked off yesterday with YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel sealing a comfortable 41 run victory over UCC-Red, Uripok in a Group B match at Langthabal Public Ground.
CYCLONE sealed a narrow 6 run victory over UCC-Blue, Uripok to kick off their Group A campaign this morning on the back of Shashi and bowlers.
Shashi hit a 49-ball 52 and Roben scored an unbeaten 36 off 38 balls to lift CYCLONE to 117 after they elected to bat first.
The innings saw Deepak and Boyai of UCC-Blue claiming two wickets apiece as Rajee managed one.
In reply, UCC slumped to 111 all out in 18.5 overs despite Hemjit's 35 as Rohindro (3/11 in 3 overs) and Surjit (3/17 in 2.5 overs) led the bowling attack for the Thangmeiband team.
Robindro, Tiken and Dhanendrajit also claimed a wicket apiece to help CYCLONE earn the convincing win.
Shashi was adjudged man of the match.
Later in the day, LCCC opened their Group B campaign with a 5 wicket win over KCC, Kongba.
KCC opted to bat first but were restricted to 106 for 8 wickets before LCCC cruised to the winning 108 with five wickets and two overs left to spare.
Robertson scored the highest 30 for KCC and Devakanta followed with 27 runs in their innings which saw Jinta (3/19), Jiten (2/20) and Ashok (2/22) sharing seven wickets for LCCC.
In reply, LCCC lost five wickets cheaply including three to Bonny (3/10) but Sanjit 32 and Shaphaba 9 produced an unbeaten 6th wicket partnership to set up the victory.
ESU will play Model Club tomorrow morning in the fourth match (Group A) before NAPSA play CHAMP in the Group D opener in the afternoon.
