Dayanand Thoudam cruises to 2nd U-15 Rapid Chess Tourney title

Imphal, October 27 2019: Dayanand Thoudam of Shishu Nistha Niketan emerged the champion of the 2nd U-15 Rapid Chess Tournament organized by Salai Chess Academy.

Although Dayanand Thoudam, Nungshithoi Ngairangbam of Kendriya Vidyalaya, and Jalesh Thoudam of Shishu Nistha Niketan finished with similar 5 points each, they were declared champion, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up respectively on the basis of tie break score, as per a press release of Yambem Dhanabir Singh, head coach, Salai Chess Academy.

Khuman Einstein Maibam of St Joseph's Hr Secondary School and Lemba Sougaijam of Heritage Convent finished first and second in the U-10 boys category with 4 points each, on the basis of tie break score while in the girls U-10 category, Lanchenbee Ngairangbam of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Thokchom Poireinganbi of Heirok Part II girls High School were named first and second respectively with similar four points each (on the basis of tie break score), the release said.

Top 3 players of the U-15 category and top two players of U-10 boys' and U-10 girls' categories were also feted with cash prizes and mementoes, the release continued.

Altogether, 32 players including 11 girls from different schools took part in the tournament, the release said.
