Imphal, April 26 2015 : Manipur Women's team and Assam Men's team were declared as the team champion in Women's and Men's section on the concluding day of the Eastern India Powerlifting Championship at SAI-SAG Hall, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal on Sunday.

The championship was organised by All Manipur Powerlifting Association (AMPA) under the supervision of Indian Powerlifting Federation (IPF) and six teams, Mizoram; Asasam; Jharkand; West Bengal; Arunachal Pradesh in addition to host Manipur are participated in the three-day span championship.

At the end of the championship, Manipur women's team gathered 60 points to crown champion.

Assam followed follow with 51 points while Mizoram with 8 points occupied the third spot.

In Men's section, Assam was crowned the champion with 60 points followed by Mizoram with 48 points and Manipur with 44 points.

Leima Chanu; K Roshida and Sh Reemi added three more gold medals to the women's kitty on the final day.

Leima Chanu lifted a total of 460 kg (Squat: 190 kg; Bench Press: 100 kg; Death Lift: 170 kg) to win the 72 kg girls event.

K Roshida lifted 357.5 kg (Squat: 137.5 kg; Bench Press: 82.5 kg; Death Lift: 137.5 kg) to pocket the 84 kg class while Sh Reemi with a lift of 160 kg (Squat: 55 kg; Bench Press: 25 kg; Death Lift: 80 kg) for gold in 43 kg event.

Leima Chanu of Manipur was declared the Best Women Lifter while Ranjan Mazumdar of Assam was awarded the Best Men Lifter of the championship.

The closing event was graced by S Manglemjao Singh, IGP Manipur, Vice President Manipur Olympic Association (MOA); Sunil Elangbam; Advisor MPA; Anwar Hussain, Vice President, IPA, Sampa Gupta, Secretary, Eastern Indian Powerlifting Association (EIPA); N Kumar, President, MPA and other dignitaries.
