Imphal, July 25 2014 : Different sports bodies and associations of Manipur have expressed happiness over the success of Kh.

Sanjita Chanu, S.Mirabai Chanu, Sushila Likmabam and Kalpana Thoudam on the opening day of the 20th Commonweatlth Games 2014, being held at Glasgow, Scotland on Thursday.

It may be recalled that Kh.

Sanjit Chanu opened the medal account of India by clinching 1 gold medal in the weightlifting event of 48 kg.

.SMirabai Chanu bagged the silver medal in the same event.

Sushila Likmabam and Kalpana Thoudam also bagged 1 silver and 1 bronze medal respectively in the 48 kg and 52nd kg category of Judo competition.

Manipur Weightlifting Association has congratulated Sanjita and Mirabai while Manipur Olympic Association has announced that it would host a grand felicitation function in honour of all the medal winners and participants of the 20th Commonwealth Games 2014 on their arrival at Imphal.

The Association has also appealed to the government for appointing them to suitable job.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party Manipur Pradesh also expressed happiness over winning of the first gold medal of India by a Manipuri woman player in the ongoing 20th Commonwealth Games 2014.The political party also appreciated the success of Mirabai Chanu Saikhom, Sushila Likmabam and Kalpana Thoudam.
