Jadupui double fires KVFC into 21st Challenge Cup semis

Imphal, May 24 2019:
Jadupui scored twice in the second half to hand KVFC, Konthoujam a convincing 4-1 win against UVSA-Thangal and a place in the semi-final of the 21st Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament organised by Manipur Veteran Football Association, at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
UVSA-Thangal, Lilong Chajing dominated the early proceedings and had the lead in the 18th minute of the match through Noren but to their disappointment W Probin conceded an own goal to level the scores in the 21st minute.
Despite repeated attempts, KVFC could not convert their changes till the end of the first half leaving the score locked at 1-1 but changed their approach as the second half ensued and successfully reversed the lead in the 38th minute through star of the day, Jadupui.
It was all about the Konthoujam side after the goal as N Itocha netted another in the 42nd minute to mount more pressure to UVSA who further loose their revival chance two minutes latter when Jadupui completed his double for a 4-1 lead.
UVSA's struggle to cut the gap in the latter part of the game also failed to materialise as UVSA defence managed to stonewall the rivals' forays made in the process and eventually sealed the semi-final berth.
NCVFC, Churachandpur will meet PUPU, Pungdongbam in the third quarter final match tomorrow at 3 pm .
