Imphal, September 19 2018:
Ng Bala shone today with a hattrick and helped Manipur take off the title campaign at the 24th Senior Women's National Football Championship with an emphatic 9-0 win over Uttarakhand at Barbati Stadium, Cuttack, Odisha.
It was no stopping for State players as they dominated the game right from the first whistle to take a 2-0 lead in the first half and battered the Uttarakhand side with a barrage of shots in the second half to complete the 9-0 demolition.
It was star of the day, Ng Bala who opened up the scoring just two minutes into the play off a cross from Umapati before striking her second in the 4th minute.
Surprised by the sudden lead, the Uttarakhand side had to slip to defensive formation throughout the first half before witnessing real attack from Manipur in the second half.
The Uttarakhand side continued to withstand the onslaught from the Manipuri side till S Rinaroy breached through their wall and connected a long range pass by I Prameshori Devi to beat the custodian in the 55th minute and made it 3-0 .
I Prameshori Devi and N Ratanbala Devi proved to be a constant threat to the Uttarakhand side in the latter part of the game and it was in the 77th minute that Ratanbala netted her first goal and put Manipur ahead with a 4-0 lead.
The hapless Uttarakhand team withered gradually as Manipur continued to mount pressure upon them with strikes after strikes.
The score could have been a double digit had the crossbar didn't favour Uttarakhand as 10 out of 15 shots on target hit the bar and went outside for corner.
It was in the 79th minute that Ng Bala completed her hattrick before Kashmina (83'), M Mandakini (85'), I Prameshori (91') and N Ratanbala (95') took their turns to slot home the ball past the Uttarakhand custodian and ensured the 9-0 triumph.
