IMF appeals for incentive to Mr World

Imphal, August 16 2013 : International Meeteis Forum (IMF) has drawn the attention of state government and urged for offering incentive to Dr Ngangbam Shantikumar Meetei, who recently got the prestigious title of Mr World 2013 in the INBN Mr World contest, Greece.

The long silence on the part of the state government in offering some incentives to a sportsperson like Shantikumar, who wholeheartedly represented Manipur despite settling in Vietnam, out of his love for the State on his individual efforts and expenses, has been viewed by the public as an act of injustice, N Bikramjit Singh, Secretary Publicity of IMF, said.

Though Dr Shantikumar might not have much personal expectation, the government's apathy is seen as somewhat irresponsible which may discourage the moral of not only him but also for the other upcoming sportspersons, who can bring more laurels in future for the state by participating at various such international sports competitions, Bikramjit added.
