AMOFA, ESU register wins in AMFA Cup

Imphal, July 16 2024: All Moirang Football Association (AMOFA) and Eastern Sporting Union (ESU) emerged the victors in the 3rd AMFA Cup 2023-24 at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong on Tuesday.

AMOFA registered a 2-0 win over Imphal FA in their Group B encounter.

It was a see-saw battle in the first half as AMFA broke the opposition's resistance just before the halftime whistle.

After toiling for the first full 45 minutes, Singam Subash Singh gave AMFA the lead just seconds before the end of first-half added time.

The Moirang squad then found their second goal in the 77th minute, with Moirangthem Deepak Singh on target, and went on the seal the victory without reply.

Lamjingba Maibam scored to guide ESU to a narrow 1-0 win over XI Star Sporting Union in the day's other Group B match.

Lamjingba netted the winning goal in the 36th minute.

On Wednesday (July 17, 2024), Angtha FC will play against YDO while FCIC will take on GDC in their Group A fixtures.
