IGAR(S) Maj Gen CA Krishnan has inaugurated the refurbished football field of L Foundation School in Churachandpur district under the jurisdiction of 27 Sector of HQ IGAR(S) today.
A press release from PRO, HQ IGAR(S) said that the development was instituted on a request by the school authorities to Lt Gen(Retd) K S Yadava, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, DGAR and was included in the Military Civic Programme.
The ground hosts a new look on completion of the work with leveling of the football ground, provision of goal posts and a new friendship pavilion.
Maj Gen C A Krishnan was the chief guest on the occasion.
The colorful event commenced with the arrival of the esteemed guests and unveiling of a plaque in commemoration of the event.
The motivated house teams with skillful young players displayed their expertise of the game which was appreciated by one and all.
An outstanding Military Band display by the pipe and drum band of 27 Sector Assam Rifles marked the half time for the game.
The Chief Guest was introduced to the captains of the participating teams.
In his address, Maj Gen C A Krishnan mentioned about the rich history of the Indian Security Forces full of sacrifices and selfless service for the Nation.
He inspired the school children to join the Security Forces by citing examples of the war heroes from the State.
The football field offers opportunities to the students of the school to optimally utilize it in their daily training, holding competitions and also making available a ready to use venue to the society at large.
The IGAR(S) also witnessed a cultural show for peace and harmony and enjoyed the display of diverse traditions and culture of the district with an exhibition of bamboo dance, ethnical songs and musical skit.
The display came to a befitting end with Mrs Sandhya Krishnan honoring the participants with special prizes.
In another event, a programme for showcasing the cultural talent of Churachandpur was organized by 27 Sector of HQ IGAR(South) today.
The event was structured with the theme of Peace and Harmony.
The cultural programme was a mix of performances by various village clubs, tribal bodies and school children to commemorate The Children's Day.
The event hosted Mrs Sandhya Krishnan, President, ARWWA as the Chief Guest.
The cultural show began with a welcome address by Brig Surendra Mehta, Commander 27 Sector.
The Commander welcoming everyone said that Churachandpur is host to, home to a large number of tribes and all of them are proud of their unique and colorful tradition.
He also mentioned about the scenic beauty of the district and that there are large number of NGOs active in the region and village bodies who are the identity of the district.
The schedule of events included a performance by a Choir, a musical skit, a Paite dance, a solo song and a bamboo dance.
The display came to a befitting end with Mrs Sandhya Krishnan honoring the participants with special prizes which further motivated the youth of the district.
