N Haricharan Trophv : JYC set up summit clash with PSG

Jiribam, September 15 2018: JYC, Jairolpokpi will take on PSG in the final of the 14th District Level Sub-Junior Boys (U-15) Football Tournament-2018 for N Haricharan Trophy which is underway since August 31 last under the aegis of All Jiribam Sports Association at Jiribam Higher Secondary playground.

JYC beat Mirpur FC by a narrow 1-0 margin today in the second semi-final to set the September 17 final date with PSG, Kalinagar.

The day witnessed a tight competition from both teams as the winners will advance into the final.

The first half ended barren as both teams balanced well their attacking and defending thrusts equally and leaving almost no room for scoring.

It was after the restart that JYC entered the field with more purpose and gave more attention in attack rather than defending and their efforts paid off in the 60th minute when Lallawn Kung sent the ball past the custodian of Mirpur FC after a deep run into the box and made the difference.

Sighting the single goal was enough, JYC slipped to their earlier position and gave no chance to the rivals who were desperately looking for the leveller in the latter part of the game to seal the 1-0 win and the final berth.

Valte (11') and James (17') of JYC and Mala (10') and Ebenezer (36') of Mirpur FC were yellow carded by the Refereee for unsporting behaviour.
