Imphal, July 15 2024:
Ground Development Committee (GDC), Thinungei thumped Youth Development Organisation (YDO), Heinoukhongnembi by 3-1 goals as the 3rd AMFA Cup resumed today after a forthnight at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
The fifth Group A match and tourney's 10th saw YDO enjoy a slender 1-0 first half lead before GDC resurged in the second half and notched up their first win in three games having drawn the previous game with YWC-Thambalkhong.
It was Huidrom Milan Singh who put YDO ahead with a fine finish in the 25th minute before Ningthoujam Dhanabir pulled level for GDC three minutes into the second half.
As the game was wide open again, the two sides toiled to forge ahead and GDC who look more composed turned things around courtesy of a 67th minute goal from Ningthoujam Quintan.
GDC kept looking for more goals and their efforts paid off when Heisnam Michael, who subbed in for forward Pukhrambam Zidan in the first half, converted a fine chance in the 79th minute.
YDO who were left stunned by three back to back goals fought hard to reduce the margin in the late stages but were met with stiff resistance from GDC defenders.
To much disappointment, they were reduced to 10-man as Elangbam Akash received a straight red for a serious foul in the 87th minute.
With the numbers not on their side and the attacking third proving too blunt, YDO eventually went down 1-3 to their rivals based at Thinungei.
