ARC enters final as TRAU Manager hits Referee

The ongoing 56th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament (CC Meet) organised by AMFA has take an ugly turn when TRAU's Team Manager hit the referee who was conducting the semi final match at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Imphal.
The first semi final match was played between Assam Regimental Centre (ARC) and Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU), Kwakeithel today in which ARC beat TRAU with a solitary goal and entered into the final.
The solitary goal of ARC was scored by Gordon Lalram-chunna in the 64th minute of the match.
While alleging the referee conducted the match in a bias manner, fans and officials of TRAU entered the field after the match was over and confronted the referee.
Sensing trouble, security personnel and AMFA officials rushed and tried to calm down the situation.
However, team manager of TRAU N Rajen rushed and hit the referee M Magho as soon as the later get out of the field.
Magho reacted against the assault and they engaged in a fist fight.
However, timely intervention of AMFA officials and security personnel prevented the situation from taking an ugly turn.
Even though the situation was controlled from taking an ugly turn, spectators who watch the whole scene blamed AMFA for lack of security arrangement which resulted in the assault of the referee.
Later, Gordon Lalramchunna of ARC was awarded the e-pao Man of the Match title which carries Rs 2000 cash prize along with trophy and a T-shirt.
Defending Champion NEROCA, Sangakpham and KSC, Lambulane will play the second semi final match tomorrow.
